Townhouse Homestead Tuesday

We had a very quiet Easter here at the townhouse. Caught up with a few people we hadn't heard from in a while and just relaxed. Dinner was peaceful and it was prepared a bit ahead of time so it too was not time consuming and flowed smoothly. To brighten up our Easter dinner table we used some of the Pyrex collection and my daughter loves to collect misfit lazy Susan pieces. With the vintage table cloth that is by no means in perfect condition it made a setting for a lovely early Spring/Easter dinner.

This townhouse homesteader is trying to create a meal planner and build a stock so it is easier to combine the work schedule and have the best meals we can. This week the only addition we made to that stock up was onion rice mix. I made this with my home made onion soup mix and while I was putting it together I decided that this will be a side for roast pork. The fragrance spoke pork.

I put this up in 8 ounce jars. With just two of us one cup of rice is a lot so we can get four servings from each jar and of course they are vacuum sealed for a healthy shelf life. That's all that's new as far as the homesteading side of the townhouse for last week. We've done plenty more and have plenty more we can do. Thank you for stopping by and have a wonderful week.

Thrift finds and creations from the sewing table.

Thrifty goodness.

I have Spring fever. I think all the items with Spring colors has made this happen. More Mikasa coffee mugs this week, Vera napkins and a collection of Daisy flower pins.

Fell in love with this bright orange and gray geometric and floral scarf. The Christmas puppy is a Josef and we also found a great bundle of canning jar rubber rings. I'm keeping some for my older style jars I use for storage and the rest I will list for sale.

And from the sewing room this week where we are continuing to use up the bits and pieces comes a Spring pillow cover, a cup cozy and a set of four mug rugs. Thank you for stopping by and I hope everyone has a wonderful week.

Spring Flowers

I love when the air is fresh come spring and the flowers finally decide to blossom. After this long and wet winter and spring the Iris' in my garden have bloomed. I have watched these grow year after year for the past six springs and for some reason this year they are special to me. Maybe the stress of getting the garden to mature is off or maybe that I am settled enough to enjoy them. Whatever it is I wanted to share them. I hope you enjoy them as well.

Robins Make My Home Theirs Too

For the past couple of weeks we have been watching a pair of Robins take over our back yard. Last spring we knew they were nesting in the hedges, but this year they are out in the wide open at eye level for us to watch. This fascinates me to watch nature take it's course. I've tried to make my back yard welcoming to wildlife and birds and I've seen all sorts of animals in the yard. I've had skunks, possum, rabbits, deer, and raccoons to mention a few. I like the large variety of birds the most and when the cherry tree and pear tree are full we need air traffic control in the back yard. The squirrels and birds will make more noise while I'm trying to retrieve the fruit but believe me they get more than I do. So I thought that I would share this miracle of nature and try to watch and see if there will be chicks soon. We won't disturb it to see if there are any eggs in it. They deserve their spot.
